ENVIRONMENT (2024)

Performance/ Deep Space, 9 min

Project by Carlotta Borcherding
Environment is an interactive performance that responds to interaction and movement within a sensory tracking system. Thus, the levels of sound, projection and movement are intertwined.

The play tells the story of two characters, their dynamics with each other and their relationship to their surroundings.  The structure of the projected images, which determines the radius of action and interaction of the two performers, is based on a system that fragments into simple linear structures transforming a static environment into an organic and living one. The protagonists experience distance and closeness, peace and tension; They find each other and let go, as all elements of life exist in recurring waves of attraction and rejection.

The performance Environment (Umgebung) is a cutting-edge artwork that was recently premiered at the Ars Electronica Festival 2023 and was celebrated by an international audience.
